Summary

“Would you call yourself a people pleaser? Tell us how it shows up in your life…”

And you answered!

Matt, Stephen, Audrey and Jameson sit down to look at your top responses to how you fall into the trap of people pleasing and the problems this causes in our lives.

Do you say “yes” to things you don’t really want to do? Feel like you’re always giving emotional energy with nothing in return? Do you feel you have to avoid being your honest self in order to keep the peace and make everyone around you happy?

If you’ve been here, you’re not alone. Listen to how you can find a balance between showing up for people you love without giving up your own happiness and sense of self.

I want to know who in my life is here because I always please them and who in my life is here because they love me.

0:06.7

That's worth knowing, it takes guts to want to know that, but I want to know.

0:10.5

Stephen, you get to see us tomorrow. How do you feel about that?

0:33.7

Oh, mixed feelings, I guess. Most of them mixed feelings.

0:38.6

Most of them. I haven't seen us in three months. What mixed feelings could you possibly have?

0:42.7

Let me finish. Most of them positive. It's not getting better.

0:52.5

Well, what we're going to do, you're flying over, we're going to have Chinese, we're going to Chinese

0:57.3

restaurant and we're going to go see a show, aren't we? Some comedy. We are. I don't know if it was a

1:02.4

good idea for me to have booked us all a comedy show on the day that Audrey and I land. It was ambitious,

1:09.7

but we are, our jet lag is going to be working in our favour because we probably won't be able to

1:14.7

sleep. Audrey will confirm with me that it's such a map move as well to book a show on the day you're

1:19.6

arriving, isn't it? Audrey. It's a bit of a map move, yeah. But everyone's coming. We've got Audrey's

1:25.5

sister and her husband. We've got about 12 of our family coming. I mean, we had to try finding

1:35.2

a table for 14 people in Chinatown in London on a Saturday night. That is not easy. We're like

1:45.5

the sopranos showing up somewhere. What's the show? So, Jameson, you're like this Britannic who

1:52.5

we went and saw in LA are doing an extended run in the Soho Theatre in London after having just

1:58.4

done the Edinburgh fringe and we get to see them. You love Britannic. You love Britannic too. We love

2:06.5

Britannic. We love Britannic. Every time we go, I'm sort of sad that beloved family members at home

2:15.2

can't come out and see them. So, this time it was just very, very lucky that the day we got home was

2:21.1

their final show in London. So, we're going out as a huge group. Yeah. They're sketch comedians

2:26.2

and filmmakers that inspire you because they make you want to do what they do and there's

2:35.4

Britannic which makes you want to give up because no one can do what they do and they're just so
