0:55.0	and of course very timely, given that we've just had another politician narrowly surviving
0:59.6	what was an almost lethal and game-changing plot.
1:06.2	Last time, Roger, we spoke about the various plots on Hitler's life before the July bomb plot.
1:12.6	We talked about a number of characters and of course also briefly mentioned Staufenberg,
1:17.6	who is going to plant the actual bomb, play the key role in the July bomb plot of 1944.
1:24.6	But tell us a little bit about Stauphenberg, because he's a fascinating character, isn't he?
1:28.8	He comes from a very sort of conservative, aristocratic background.
1:33.3	But not necessarily someone who was, as I think we briefly mentioned last time, averse to the Nazis' war aims,
1:43.3	certainly their recovery of German territory, at least at the start of the Second World War.
1:48.2	Yeah, I mean, he's very much nobility, he's born in a nobility, southwestern Germany, Catholic, born in 1907.
1:57.5	So he is that generation that grows up, you know, as a child during the First World War.
2:02.5	So they sort of experienced the war at one remove through the, through the propaganda and so on.
2:07.5	He experiences then, you know, as a young man, as a youth, the, as he would have seen at the humiliation of Germany in the post-war.
2:15.6	So Versailles and then the hyperinflation
2:17.6	and so on, which is, I think we're unwise to sort of play that down for that generation
