0:21.2 | Cornerstone Laid on September 26, 1815, named to honor the Reverend Archibald |
0:30.1 | Alexander, first professor of the seminary, 1812 to 1851. |

0:40.0 | this is the first structure built for use as a seminary by the Presbyterian Church. |
0:47.0 | While it was dedicated to Archibald Alexander, |
0:50.0 | there were actually three men who contributed to the founding of Princeton Theological Seminary. |
0:56.7 | The first was the aforementioned Archibald Alexander. |
0:59.8 | He was joined by Ash Bell Green and also Samuel Miller. And this is their story. |
1:07.0 | Ash Bell Green was born in 1762. He fought in the Revolutionary War and then he studied under John Witherspoon who was president of course of |
1:16.8 | Princeton University and a signer of the Declaration of Independence and a Presbyterian minister. He was the only ordained minister to |
1:24.4 | affix his signature to the Declaration of Independence and Ash Bell Green was one of his students. |
1:31.2 | From the years 1812 to 1822 for a decade, |
1:36.4 | Ashbel Green himself served |
1:38.8 | as the president of Princeton University. |
1:42.2 | Just as a side note, he had one slave and he freed her. |
1:46.0 | Her name was Becky Stockton. |
