Hello everyone. Welcome to this week's podcast episode. I'm giving you a quick heads up before you start listening. This week's episode I'm going to be talking a little bit about my chronic illness journey.

I promise you I'm going to sound like I am emotional, but I promise you I am so happy. But talking about the different ups and downs of the journey.

Hello, hello and welcome to the latest episode of Black Girls Heel. I am as always so happy to be in front of you again today.

So today's episode we are going to be talking about coping with chronic illness.

So chronic illness in the realm of mental illness, whether or not it is lasting any depression and anxiety.

But primarily today, the example that I'm going to use is physical ailments. So whether or not it is diabetes.

Lupus, MS, skin diseases, of course cancers. And for me, I'm going to be talking about dealing with the impact of long-standing hypertension.

As many of y'all know, that is my story. It has been something that I've been actively working through the last several years and has impacted my life.

It is the reason why my mother passed early and there has been so many ups and downs. But today, when I want to talk about based on the juncture I currently am in healing these parts of myself or living with these parts of myself,

which I'll clarify during this episode is I want to talk to those of us who have been sick for a long period of time.

And some of you are more sick than I have been and there is possibly a cure, but you are struggling with it.

Some of you are more sick than I have been and there is no cure and you're dealing with the impact of that.

Some of y'all are trying to manage a sickness and you don't know where it's going and it's been so frustrating for you to get a handle on it.

I want to speak to a lot of the mental loneliness and sadness that comes with that, the difficulty in finding a support group to support you with it.
