Summary

Jen is joined by master political strategist Simon Rosenberg to discuss why polling vastly overestimated the non-existent so-called Red Wave in 2022 and how the results of the special elections since then demonstrate that the electorate is continuing to punish Republicans.  They explore how the Dobbs decision, Supreme Court radicalism, Trump and his party’s attempts to overturn the election, the possibility of a government shutdown, and their inability to moderate is giving democratic candidates positive numbers not seen in decades.  Building upon the decline in inflation and other successful policies, is a Blue Wave coming?

Hello, this is Jen Rubin, and this is Jen Rubin's Green Room.

Before we get to this week's guest, I want to talk once more about the media or the failure of the media

0:23.4

or the expected failure of the media. We're about to embark on two stories. One is the impeachment

0:31.1

attempt by the Republicans lacking any factual basis whatsoever to impeach President Biden.

0:39.2

And the second is the shutdown threat, which should be odd to your ear,

0:45.2

because after all, the Republicans made a deal during the debt negotiations

0:50.7

that was supposed to take care of spending for the foreseeable future.

0:55.2

And in fact, the Senate has been complying with that on a bipartisan basis and is about to

1:00.5

spend, we're about to put out spending bills that will take us through the next fiscal year.

1:07.8

What is the media going to do?

1:10.1

Are they going to play the usual what about do? Are they going to play the usual what aboutism? Are they

1:14.2

going to play the usual fake balance? You could expect stories like the following. The White

1:21.4

House claims there's no evidence against Joe Biden. Well, it doesn't just claim there is no evidence against Joe Biden.

1:29.6

Or try this one. There's no direct evidence to implicate Joe Biden. There's no evidence at all.

1:36.7

Why the direct? You see, the media has this inborn aversion to what they think is taking sides, but it's really telling the truth.

1:48.5

They somehow feel compelled to tilt the story a little bit so that the Republicans don't seem

1:55.0

so insane, so reckless, so determined to weaponize government to borrow a phrase.

2:01.9

And why is that?

2:03.1

Part of that is the phenomenon that the Republicans are very good at working the refs.

2:08.3

They have beaten up on the media for liberal bias.

2:11.4

Part of it is just this inborn thing, this inborn habit that they have, that they cannot bear to unbalance in

2:23.0

their view the scales. The problem is that the scales are already unbalanced. You have a
