Summary

Why do we chase after happiness? What if we could be free from the pursuit of happiness? In this episode, I will explore the nature of human emotions. When we understand that all emotions, including happiness, sadness, etc...are impermanent, we can learn to stop chasing after these emotions. Pursuing happiness can be a lot like pursuing our shadow. It's not something we can "catch".

1:06.5	I think the short answer is that it feels good to be happy, and it doesn't feel good
1:11.1	when we're not happy. It doesn't feel good to be angry or sad for too long at least,
1:17.8	and it does feel good to be happy to experience joy.
1:21.7	We end up in this position where we decide I want more of that good stuff, happiness,
1:27.2	and I want less of that bad stuff, sadness or anger.
1:31.1	Then we get caught up in the pursuit of happiness.
1:34.0	We're continually chasing after the things that make us happy and continuously avoiding
1:39.6	the things that will not make us happy.
