They ask people, what gives you hope and peace?

They asked some activists, and this was NPR, saying, hey, what gives you, it's like, it's

a crazy world, it's depressing out there.

Some of the answers.

One was, what gives me peace of mind when gloom is looming, gloom is looming is to remember

that in five billion years, the sun will become a red giant and earth will cease to exist.

Oh, okay.

That's one of the answers.

Another one was, I employ what I refer to as delusional optimism, which involves telling

myself like, it's going to be just fine, or you've been through much worse, or tomorrow

won't feel this bad, even if it's not true, it helps.

Oh, oh.

Okay.

Consistent, I went through all these comments, very consistent, no basis for hope at all.

Yeah, nothing to tether it to, nothing, yeah.

Which is, which is really striking, like when you think about everything the culture

tells you, examine it through that lens, like wait, at the deepest level, you don't have

any reason for hope.

Where's that going to come from?
