So you started at Wine Making School in 1985?

That's correct, yes.

I was 14 years, which is still quite unusual, I think, for outside of European countries, but you know that age I was like not really forced for my parents

but it was a logical way and it took five years it's actually all the world's oldest wine school.

Oh, okay. And what were your classmates like at that time?

Because that's kind of a defining era for Austrian wine, I would think, in terms of the post-85

area. Well, that now goes deeply into psychology of my life now actually that question because it was the time of very conservative wine don't even want to say wine making it was the 85 of course was the famous little let's call it crisis now in

Austria in a very famous year with a big chance to for Austrian wine and at that stage it was not really cool to be a winemakers or farmers

with the cultural son so in before wine school that was more like the

the farmers thing and then in wine school I was with a lot of

really let's say, very conservative boys, you know. And that was the time

when my father started to hike in Naples or Turkey and so on, some 5,000

meter high hills, and was also a very different thing to be grown up in a wine school.
