In this episode, I'm going to talk to you about four targets of gospel application.

So a biblical sermon, a faithful sermon, an effective sermon, should have three big elements. You should have explanation, application, and illustration.

I mean, at any given time in the sermon, you should be doing one of these three things.

Explanation, application, illustration.

Explanation, of course, is the heart of exposition. is to expose the god intended meaning of the text

you don't want to be one of those preachers who is a master of the obvious captain obvious should

not be in the pulpit where you basically just rehearse what the hearer seasoned or rookie hearer

of the scriptures already knows the Bible says 2 Timothy chapter 4 verse 2 preach the word be ready

in season and out of season reproverove, rebuke, and exhort with complete patience and

teaching. To preach the word involves the teaching of God's word. And that requires that we explain

what may not be obvious in the text, what may not be clear

in the text, what may not be understandable in the text. So a biblical sermon, a faithful sermon,

an effective sermon, invariably needs to have explanation explanation of terms of truths of themes in the text you should be

explaining to your people the truth and wisdom of the word of God also they should be

illustration and And if exposition or explanation is the

structure of the of the of the of the sermon itself, then illustrations are windows. They,

they let in the light of truth they they give the hearer an opportunity

to see uh how the word of god works in the world around them you can do that through biblical

illustrations for every biblical principle, there is a biblical
