So I've been thinking a lot about dragons now that Bilbo is standing face to face with

Smog himself.

Because this is the point where Bilbo has to confront the darkest, most terrible thing

Aside from letting go of the ring eventually, which is arguably worse.

And I'm sure you can make an argument that that is measurably worse than Smog,

although both are terrifying and terrible things to have to deal with.

But in this case, he has to confront Smog face to face.

And I have to wonder how many of us, when we think back to this moment, like many of the

moments in The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, the first thing that comes to mind is the movies.
