| 0:00.0 | Welcome back to the State of the Workflow series. This is where I talk to creative people about the tools, the systems and habits that they use to get their work done and how those choices shape the work that they make. |
| 0:11.0 | In this episode, I'm thrilled to be joined by YouTuber Becker Fasachi. We talk about how Becker got started with YouTube, how she approaches making videos, and why being independent is such a huge part |
| 0:22.2 | of her creative life and identity. We also spend a little time talking about what she learned |
| 0:27.4 | while working at The Verge, and how the lessons that she learned there about storytelling, |
| 0:32.1 | production, collaboration, and ethics shape the way that she works today as an independent |
| 0:37.2 | creator. |
| 0:38.1 | We're going to dig into Becker's process, how she decides what to work on next, |
| 0:42.0 | the trade-offs that she makes, and the systems that help her stay creative, productive, |

| 0:58.4 | So, Becker, I want to get started by asking you the question I ask every guest. |
| 1:02.3 | Okay. |
| 1:02.9 | What is the most important device that you need to get your work done? |
| 1:06.9 | Well, I mean, the obvious answer would be a camera because I film everything and it's a visual medium, but my laptop is by far my most used piece of tech. And it does have a camera on it. So I could probably make a whole video with it, which that would be a very fun. I do. Uh-oh. We're watching the content in real time be made. You're just walking down the streets of New York City vlogging with a MacBook Pro. Don't tempt me with a good time. Tell me about your camera. Plural. Cameras. I have so many. Where do I even begin? I shoot a lot of stuff on phones. So lately I've been carrying the Samsung Z-fold 7. So I'll film on that. Not my favorite camera by a mile, but it's the one I have with me. And in good light, I can get something passable. Yeah. I shoot a lot of content with an iPhone 17 Pro. I carry it around as like kind of a content capture phone. So I'll do a lot of like Instagram stories or even if I need to film like video, but I don't want to bring a whole camera or I can't |
| 2:01.7 | because maybe I'm at a concert venue or something. I'll film with that. Stepping up from there, |
| 2:06.3 | I do use a lot of action cameras. Lately, that's been the DJI Osmo Action 6. And then I also shoot |
| 2:13.8 | on an Insta 360 action cam. Sometimes I use 360 degree cams, gopros, I mean, whatever I have. |
| 2:21.4 | Yeah. You know, I'll just use action camera wise. That's when I need something small that I can |
| 2:26.1 | throw in my pocket if I'm like hiking or snowboarding or something. Okay. When I'm in a more |
| 2:31.7 | studio environment or home, I should say, the Lumix SR Mark 2, I love this |
