He's a professor of physics, the University of California,

San Diego, a fellow of the American Physical Society,

a commercially rated pilot, and the director of the Simon's Observatory. He received the 2007 Presidential

Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers for his work on Bicep, which he talks

about in the latest issue of Skeptic on the

cosmological origins of the universe and so forth. He is the author of

losing the prize, a story of cosmology, ambition, and the perils of science's highest honor,

and the host of the Into the Impossible, a podcast about how we imagine and what we imagine shapes what we do. Each
