In this episode, I want to talk to you about the pitfalls of sermon preparation.

So I've mentioned before there are times in a random conversation with a stranger I don't know.

When I am asked, what do you do for a living?

That's one of the questions you're going to get in a conversation with the person you meet.

What do you do for a living?

And I tell them, I write sermons.

And they say, oh, that's's nice then they think about it you write sermons are you a preacher yes why do you say you write sermons and I tell them it feels like I spend

all of my life for writing the sermons and the preaching of the

sermons flies by like a blur and then I have to start writing another sermon all over again.

I don't know if anyone ever feels like it's as funny as I think it is. But if you are a preacher who takes

his work seriously, I am sure you can relate to the sentiment. Study is the hard part, right?

Preaching is the fun part. The study is the hard part.

And the joy that one has in the pulpit is directly tied to the labor,

the work one puts in in preparation.

If you're going to be blessed in the pulpit, you've got to do your work in the study.

And really, I think there are times where things happen in the pulpit that have no direct bearing on the preparation.

But I think a lot that what happens week in and week out in our preaching, what happens in the pulpit, can be directly tied to what happens in our preparation.
