All right, day five on the Ten Commandments. We're looking at Israel's response to the Ten

Commandments, that there is only one God, that you should cut out the idols, that you need to

watch your mouth, don't use the Lord's name in vain, that you should remember the Sabbath,

keep it holy, that you should honor your father and mother, that thou shall not murder,

that thou shall not commit adultery, that you shouldn't lie, you shouldn't steal, and you shouldn't

covet your neighbor stuff. So God gives this law to Moses, and then you get the response in

verses 18 to 24. Now, when all the people saw the thunder and the flashes of lightning and the

sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking because Moses had gone up onto this mountain as

required in chapter 19 and God is meeting one-on-one with Moses. There's three people there,

but God is talking directly to Moses and the people are down at the bottom,

watching from afar. They are not allowed to go up on the mountain because they cannot handle the presence of a holy God because they have not been consecrated. And they are afraid.
