All right, welcome back, day four of this week, this deep dive on the

Ten Commandments. The reason I'm clumping these together is I want you to get the meta-narrative.

Instead of doing a deep dive on each one, maybe I'll do that eventually one day. I want you to

see kind of the whole picture here. So again, the commandments are a grace gift of God that God didn't wait until

the Israelites got them all right before he rescued them out of slavery. By his grace, he rescued

him out of slavery. And then he gives the commandments as a gift to his people so that they would

know how to do two things, how to love God and love each other. And so really, commandments, five, six,

seven, eight, nine, and ten are how we ought to rightly live with one another. But we will not be

able to rightly live in love with one another if we don't first see God for who he really is.

And we know how to rightly love him because he loves us first.

And so beginning with commandment number five, beginning of verse 12, says this, honor your father

and mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord of your God is giving you.

Commandment six, you shall not murder.
