Summary

A couple of days ago, I asked folks on Instagram what one word they would use to describe their current relationship with routines. There were very few positive words, words that would indicate that routines are working. Here’s what we’re going to do for the next few minutes. We need to examine our expectations of routine, reframe what routines actually are, and then give you a next step or two to resurrect them.

Hey there! You are listening to the lazy genius podcast. I'm Kendra Dachie and I'm here to help you be

0:06.7

a genius about the things that matter and lazy about the things that don't. Today is episode 172,

0:12.4

Resurrecting routines. August is such a transitional month for so many of us. Kids are not, school or not.

0:20.8

And after several months of our regular rhythms being interrupted because of the pandemic,

0:26.4

getting back into the swing of things, it feels more important than ever. So this episode is for

0:31.3

anyone who is trying to get back into a routine no matter the season. Before we jump in though,

0:37.4

I have a request for you. Would you be willing to leave a podcast review on Apple podcasts?

0:44.4

There's been a beautiful influx of people coming into this space because of my book, the lazy

0:49.5

genius way that came out a couple weeks ago. And I would love to give some context for those new

0:54.2

listeners who might wonder if this show is for them. So if you love the lazy genius podcast and

1:00.0

have not yet left a review, I would be so grateful if you did that this week. And while this next part,

1:06.5

it does kind of sound like bribery. I don't mean for it to be bribery. This is really just a way to

1:10.6

say thank you for taking the time to leave a review because I know that anything extra, even something

1:16.5

as small as typing out podcast review, it's kind of a lot right now. So I'm going to choose

1:22.0

three reviews, two that are left from the time of this episode and then one from before to honor

1:28.2

those of you who have already left a review. And those three reviewers will get a $50 Amazon gift card.

1:34.4

Once next week's episode releases, the gift card possibility closes. So we'll just choose from

1:40.4

reviews left just for this week. So head to Apple podcasts. We will put a direct link in the

1:46.3

show notes for you. Click leave a review, say a few words about why you love the show. No pressure

1:52.0

to do it, of course, of course. But if you have thought before about how you like the show and you

1:56.8

would like to demonstrate that in some way and share it in some way, leaving a review is actually

2:01.3

incredibly helpful both to me and to new listeners. So if you're into it, I would appreciate it so much.
