Welcome back to State of the Workflow. On this episode, I'm welcoming John Gruber to the show.

0:05.6

John is the writer behind Daring Fireball, a very influential blog that covers technology but mostly

0:10.9

focused on Apple. John has been writing at Daring Fireball since 2002, and in the last 23 years,

0:18.0

has become very influential both to Apple themselves, but also to the community around

0:22.2

them. This is because of the quality and thoughtfulness of the work he produces.

0:26.3

John is not afraid of sharing his opinions on any subject, and this can make waves.

0:30.6

In this episode, I want to focus on how John thinks about his work at Daring Fireball,

0:35.2

and also how he does it. Let's get on with the show.

0:38.7

1:12.3

one to review and was like, yeah, this is what I was waiting for. I use it every day. I don't know if

1:17.4

it's the longest I've ever owned a MacBook. I guess not because when I was younger, budgetary

1:22.5

concerns would have me stretch them out longer or going back further there was time like in the early years at daring

1:29.3

fireball i had a desktop computer and when it came out an 11-inch macbook air that i used for travel

1:37.9

that i loved but would not have wanted to use as my sole machine hooked up to a display. But I am in a weird position that very

1:47.2

few people are, and I love it, but I get to review new computers every couple months. And so I've

1:53.7

reviewed and used the other new MacBook pros, M2, M3, M4. And the M4 last fall, I was like, ah, I should upgrade.

2:03.9

And it was the matte display, nanotexture, which is amazing.

2:09.4

And I have the nanotexture studio display in my office.

2:12.7

And in my office, I've written about this during Fireball, the way the sun comes,

2:16.6

mainly in the fall and spring,
