Summary
Content warning: self-harm, suicidal ideation, domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and suicide.
Jen Higgins is a resident of Arkansas, mother, and founder of Anyway Socks, a company on a mission to help end domestic violence. Jen was inspired to create the company after the loss of her best friend, Brooke. In years prior, Brooke had been surviving and attempting to escape a violent relationship, and Jen was doing her best to be Brooke’s support person. However, it was after the tragic loss of Brooke, that Jen was left with a gaping hole in her heart, and a mission on her mind. She now offers support to domestic violence resources by way of her company, and she continues to share Brooke’s memory with the world in order to make change. She also works hard to bring awareness to the deep impact that being a co-victim of abuse can have on a loved one’s trajectory. The Broken Cycle Media team is incredibly grateful for Jen’s strength, perspective, and mission. This episode is dedicated in loving memory of Brooke.
