Summary

I am joined today by my friend Gail Stucker who is a trauma-informed story coach. Gail generously shares a story about herself as an 8th grader. Topics we cover: taking your story seriously when you don’t believe you have any “capital T” trauma, longing for the delight of your parents, blessing your desire for delight as a good thing even though the unmet longing is agonizing, blessing anger at those who have harmed us, listening to the sensations in our bodies, and honoring what our hatred is telling us.

0:22.3	But first, let's just start out by say a bit about who you are, where you live, what you spend your time doing.
0:26.8	Sure. Yeah. I am living in Park City, Utah. I'm basically I'm 54 and I've just become an
0:36.0	empty nester. I've got four kids. I've just become an empty nester.

0:40.1	I've been married for 30 years.
0:45.8	I'd say if you want to know something about me, I've from a very young age, really had a passion to set the world right.
0:47.2	And that has come about in so many different avenues from, I don't know, becoming an engineer
0:53.5	to a campus minister to a mom and a
0:57.6	homeschool mom and now a story coach and a group facilitator with the Allender Center.
1:02.7	Let's talk story for a minute. So you're 54 years old. When did you begin to engage your story, Gail? And what prompted that?
1:15.2	Well, I'd say I first got introduced to the idea of my story through the sacred romance book
1:23.0	by John Eldridge, probably two decades ago or even a little longer. I started to write out some of my
1:29.5	stories and just sit with them myself and with some friends. But really in earnest six years ago,
