Summary

“Truly a case of donkeys led by donkeys”. This was how a lawyer for a group of the bereaved, survivors and residents described lead contractor Rydon, the firm of architects Studio E and specialist cladding contractor, Harley Facades. Core participants submitted closing statements, marking the end of the first two sections of Phase 2 of the inquiry which heard evidence about the refurbishment of the tower which put combustible materials on the external walls of the tower.

this time.

Before we get started, I should say that as we've poured over all this evidence for many months,

1:19.2

this week I'm going to try not to repeat myself and keep it short.

1:22.9

All the evidence was also heard over Zoom, so in some instances, the audio quality isn't the best.

1:28.7

We'll begin then with the design and refurbishment of Grenfell Tower.

1:32.2

As the owners of the building, the local council, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea,

1:36.1

funded the refurbishment work, monitoring the tenant management organisation which managed
