What is clutter? And when does something become clutter? So the other day someone asked me

on a podcast interview, Katie, is it even possible to live

clutter-free? And my answer was, it kind of depends on your definition of clutter. And that's the

truth of the matter, because clutter in most dictionaries is often defined as disorganized excess.

But here are some other definitions of clutter. Maybe you've not heard

of. Clutter is excessive possessions that are stealing our lives, our time, and our energy. Again,

we see the word excess, meaning there's typically a large volume of things associated with the word

clutter. But just like people have

different interpretations and definitions of the term minimalism, I'm finding that this is becoming

more and more true with the word clutter. Like it's not so concrete. It can evolve. It can develop

over time. And it can just be really personal to each individual. And maybe you've heard this definition.

Clutter is anything that leads to a feeling of disorganization. And here's another one.

Clutter is anything that we no longer use or love. So mine over the years has evolved too.

And we're talking about physical clutter here. Clutter is any possession that

is stealing my life, my time, and my energy. Notice how you don't see the word excess or excessive

in there at all, and that is by design. Because if I haven't worn a T-shirt in three years,

but I hang on to it because it's cute and well, maybe one day
