So your grandfather began domain bottling Volnais in the 20s.

Yes, he did.

It's an interesting story.

In fact, he started a little bit by accident. It's an interesting story.

I don't know how aware you are of it,

but he was very much a leading force against the fraud that was going on at the time with

the negotiation houses in Bonn alongside him where people like Enri Gouge also and a few others and my grandfather

was very annoyed by the fact that his wines were being mixed with other wines when he was selling the wine in bulk or all the grapes.

And he started suing the Negotians in Bonn for that reason saying they were not allowed to mix the wines and call them Volnai anyway.

And of course in retaliation, the Negotiants said, well, you know, if you sue us, of course, we're no longer going to buy your juice, your wines.

And so he had no other option but to start estate bottling himself, because otherwise he had no way to sell the wine.

And so a little bit by accident but also very visionary in a way, he started estate bottling in the 20s.

And around that time it would have been googes, estate bottling, maybe Russo.

Guo, Russo, I guess Grievo was not so far behind also in same sort of period but very few but that was

basically the group yeah a handful and everything else was going to Negost to be

bottled under different labels.

And what was the period like in the 30s for the estate?
