Summary

As the year winds down and the world grows louder with commitments, celebrations, and expectations, this series invites you to do something rare and powerful: slow down. The Peace Meditation Series is your gentle companion through the end-of-year rush and into the quiet promise of a brand new beginning.

Each episode is designed to help you release what no longer serves you, soften the nervous system, and return to a deep sense of calm—no matter what the season brings. Whether you are reflecting on the year behind you or setting intentions for the year ahead, these moments of stillness are here to steady your breath, clear your mind, and reconnect you with your inner peace.

This is not about striving or fixing. It is about remembering the calm that already lives within you. Welcome to your season of peace.

This is episode 11169. Welcome to the Daily Meditation podcast. How are you doing? We're nearing the end of our seven-part series this week, which is all about the path to happiness following the ancient wisdom of the Stoics. The Stoics were all about the path to happiness following the ancient wisdom of the stoics. The stoics were all

0:24.7

about being the best human you could be, not only being your best to improve your own life,

0:35.2

but by contributing to the greater good all around you.

0:43.1

And we're following the Stoics Seneca and the former Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius.

0:51.8

Seneca was a former statesman and philosopher, and he wrote plays during his time.

0:59.2

And in today's episode, I want to share with you a meditation on happiness. And you will be asking yourself two pivotal questions that

1:16.7

Sinica recommended you ask yourself every morning upon rising. And I also want to share with you,

1:27.3

as I always do, in every Friday's episode,

1:32.3

this is an episode for a Friday as I record this, and that is an herb. That is customized and

1:43.9

reflects the weekly theme. So I've selected an herb that the ancient Greeks

1:52.0

and Romans used quite extensively in their food as well as in a tea.

2:02.9

And so that's what you'll explore today.

2:07.0

I'm Mary Meckley and I share a different meditation technique every day on this podcast.

2:16.8

And each technique is always customized around a theme we explore in depth for a full week.

2:27.4

And that way you can really master a particular quality in your life.

2:33.2

And so as we continue with our series, the path to happiness with the ancient wisdom of

2:40.7

the stoics, let me begin with the herb.

2:45.5

Now, I'm going to be sharing with you an herb that is probably in your kitchen cabinet.

2:51.7

It's common.

2:52.8

I'm sure you've used this herb a lot in different foods you may eat.

2:59.3

But I always want to say that you should check with your physician to make sure any herb
