Thanks so much for joining me today.

The topic today is spiritual sleepiness.

Sleep is such a good metaphor to describe spiritual sloth, because we get weary.

We become fatigued, and the day quiet the sun goes down and we leap or crawl into bed.

And when we worked hard during the day, sleep is sweet, sleep is good.

If we're sick, sleep is good for us creatures, but if we spend the day in bed, waking up and

then turning over and going back to sleep, we are being totally like the sloth.

It covers 26-14, as the door turns on his hinges.

So does the lazy man on his bed.

So what I'm describing right now is physical sleepiness and laziness, slothfulness, just living

entirely for your own comfort and not for others.

It's about forsaking your duties, making excuses, and so forth.

Mental sleepiness is much like this.

First Thessalonians 5, 5 and 6 says, you are all sons of light and sons of the day.

We are not of the night nor of darkness, therefore let us not sleep as others do, but let us

watch and be sober.

The word watch means to keep your eyes open, to be alert, on guard.

And a military man is on watch.

He must stay awake through all his shift, keeping his eyes open to any danger or threat.

When the Bible tells us to watch, this means stay alert to any spiritual dangers.

The enemy is watching, and he will seize his opportunity if the watchman is asleep.
