Have you ever heard a story so outlandish, so weird, so strange, that you have had a hard time wrapping your head around it?

0:15.0

You guys know me by now. I read a lot of weird articles. I've seen countless crime scene photos while doing

0:21.6

research for other cases, and it doesn't make me squirm. I've read true crime novels and

0:26.5

listen to hundreds of hours of true crime podcasts. The usual story I go for, down to its bare bones

0:33.0

and without trying to sound completely callous, is a psychotic misfit who finds his or her prey

0:39.0

and kills them. Whether they do it over and over again is all dependent on this certain

1:20.2

trying to get out here is that even within all those categories and subcategories, you sometimes

1:25.6

come across a mystery that doesn't necessarily fall into any of them,

1:29.3

but on the other hand, it kind of has to because this particular story involves dismembered body parts.

1:36.3

You see what I'm getting at here? Not yet? Well, you will soon.

1:43.3

You're listening to the apex and the abyss, and this is the mystery

1:48.7

of the Salish sea feet. Police in the Pacific Northwest are scratching their heads after a human

1:57.7

foot in a running shoe shoe washed up on shore.

2:01.6

Thing is, it's not the first time it's happened.

2:03.9

It's not the second or even the third time that it's happened.
