This is CBS. I'm John Batchel, Gordon Chang at Gordon G. Chang. And it's a great pleasure to welcome

our colleague Blaine Holt, former U.S. Air Force Brigadier General now commanding a podcast I highly

recommend, but we begin with a hardball question for Blaine because he's aware of the delicacies of general staff, general commanding staff.

Right now we get news from the Fourth Plenum that seven men, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven are under investigation for

corruption, no longer members of the inner circle in the PLA, that's a people's liberation

army, and certainly not welcome in the central committee of the PRC, the People's Republic of China.

However, it is unusual to have this announced at the same moment there are questions about the leadership by Xi Jinping and his counsels for the remainder of his third five-year term.

There's also the consideration that the PLA, unlike the United States military, which is sworn to defend the Constitution,

the PLA is sworn only to do the bidding of the Chinese Communist Party,

not the people of China, not a constitution, not the nation itself, the Chinese Communist Party.
