Summary

Tony reports Lilian’s been hinting at what she’s bought him for Christmas. He admits to Rex he’s not in the mood for Christmas this year. Rex shows Tony the pilfered woodpiles, and collects the card from the wildlife camera. They decide to review the footage over a pint. Emma and Ed have brought the children out for a rare family meal at the Bull, enjoying their little bit of extra cash. Fallon comes in with a box of props for next week’s choir performance, and Ed tells her George has quit. Fallon thinks Harrison’s tongue twisters have put George off. George arrives and agrees with her. She flatters him into continuing with his choir effort. Ed and Emma agree they should stop their logging sessions now they’ve proved to George they’re not dull. They just need to remember to make the most of the things they have. Later, as Tony and Rex settle to watch the video material, Tony spots a figure, and then another as it becomes apparent they’re moving the logs. They establish it’s a man and a woman, before seeing way more than they want to see. They recognise the man as Ed, but are perturbed to notice that the coat the woman’s wearing is definitely Fallon’s, not Emma’s. Tony declares he’s going to forget he ever saw the footage, but shocked Rex can’t leave it. He moves out of sight of Ed who’s at another table. He needs a clear head to work out what he’s going to do.

Oh yes, the long horns are certainly doing their job, Rex. You can see where they've used

their horns on the trees. Their pollarding is very effective and they're

coppersing. We couldn't have done better ourselves Tony. We lots of light coming through

for the spring growth now. Very good woodworkers and long horns. I knew they'd be perfect for

rewilding and they spread many more seeds than deer too. You'd be surprised. Definitely a good

choice for us. Absolutely. So it's a drag your house at a cold day. It's been bitter all week.

Yeah it's good to review things regularly that's all. No don't you worry, I was very glad to make

a quick exit this morning. Oh yeah, I was in the village shop when you called. Linda was in full

flow. Insisting, I asked Pat for material for a Christmas Chronicles project. I'd already given

a plenty of anecdotes but I suppose she wants to hear Pat's take on the bridge farm Christmas

Ben Ben popped in with Bess. But before I could speak to him, Lillian marched in. Ben seemed

okay. Did he? I'd say so. Ask her dear. So Lillian started dropping obscure hints about what she

bought me for Christmas with a really smug smile on her face. Ah sounds intriguing. What do you reckon

she's got you? Oh I dread to think. I'm really not in the move for Christmas this year. No.

Surely two new babies means your Christmas will be extra special. I suppose so. Everyone else is

than last time. And looks like there's more missing since Wednesday. Which means your wildlife

camera should have caught someone red handed. Let's hope so. I'll get the SD card and swap it for a
