Nisha Subramanian joins me to moderate this event. We field several questions on ADHD, task management, and organization. We talk about avoiding social media distractions, setting goals, controlling emotions and anger management, accountability, and much more. If you're listening to this episode the day it is released (Tuesday, March 14th), you can join the March session today! It starts at 12:30pm Central, and you can register at EricTivers.com/events. You'll Learn: [11:57] - When considering teens with ADHD and anxiety, task initiation is especially hard and involves a lot of parent involvement. Nisha and I have some advice to have a visual reminder of items that need to be taken care of. [59:33] - Nisha brings up a topic from a coaching group. She asks the question, "What is self-care?" I know that knowing what to do and doing what you know are two very different things.

0:05.0

But I've worked with so many people, possibly just like yourself, who really don't know how to plan.

0:12.0

And since we know that starting is the hardest

0:14.4

parts, I want to help you right now get started on planning by explaining my

0:22.3

planning process to you.

0:24.5

Now we do a deep dive into this during the ADHD rewired coaching and accountability group.

0:30.4

We spend weeks on each part of what I'm about to share with you, but what I'm

0:35.1

going to share with you right now, this is my planning process. You ready?

0:40.7

First, I begin each year and you can do this at any time you don't need to just use a calendar year

0:46.1

but I begin each year with a big brain dump I like to mind map which is basically a visual representation with bubbles and branches from each area coming out.

0:57.3

So I get everything out of my head that I want to do over the course of the year. I often will take several days to work on this this year it actually took me

1:07.9

couple of weeks to really finish this and there are a lot of different parts to this brain dump. Some of the parts include I pick a couple

1:17.0

themes that I want to focus on that really guide the things that I want to be doing this year.

1:22.0

I pick one or two major goals or projects and then I typically

1:27.2

will break these into three different categories. I have one for work, one for home, and then one for personal. And don't get caught up in where specific things go. Just the idea is that there's a place for these things.

1:43.0

So then I decide for everything that I want to focus on this year,

1:47.4

what am I going to focus on for the next three months?

1:52.4

And this also means deciding what am I not going to focus on right now.

1:57.7

So once I identify what I'm going to focus on for the next three months,

2:01.9

I look at that and then I ask myself

2:04.3

what am I going to focus on this month I will also add what I plan on doing the

2:11.1

following month.
