The series The Chosen has proven so popular that it's managed to fund itself by, well,

crowdsourcing. It's been able to continue in production, I believe, into three seasons,

and its fans are its fans. But recently, there has been a bit of a flap over what, not the fans,

but the cast and the crew of the chosen have been saying to the fans and about the fans.

Welcome back to Issues, etc. I'm Todd Wilken, joining us to talk about reaction to the chosen

cast and crew accusations of bigotry. Cheryl Magnus, she's managing editor of the reporter for

the Lutheran Church, Missouri Senate, and author of a recent column for the Federalist titled,

I don't want to boycott the chosen, but the cast and crew are forcing me to walk away.

Hi, Pastor Wilken. Thank you for having me back.

Why have you been hesitant to join boycotts of pro-LGBTQ businesses and organizations up to this point?

I've overall been hesitant to join boycotts of any time for a variety of reasons.

Possibly the first is that I'm just not disciplined enough to stick to a boycott,

but in addition to that, I just think it's rather unrealistic in this day and age

to keep my dollars pure, to keep my spending pure. Everything is just so interrelated, so connected,

so I could make a decision to not shop at the store, that store, but that's not going to ensure
