Welcome to the Feminine Podcast. This is Nancy Wilson. Thanks for joining me today.

0:11.2

As I mentioned last week, I'm going to continue with the parable of the sower and discuss

0:16.6

each of the three things that the thorny soil uses to choke out the word sown. And here's

0:23.2

the quotation from Mark IV, 18 and 19. Now these are the ones sown among thorns. They're

0:29.7

the ones who hear the word and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches and

0:35.7

the desires for other things entering in, choke the word and it becomes unfruitful.

0:43.1

Last week I talked about the cares of the world and this week the topic is that phrase

0:47.9

the deceitfulness of riches. If we want our lives to be fruitful, we cannot think that

1:26.5

possesses. And this is how apt this is for us because the deceitfulness of riches lies

1:34.2

to us and tells us that we can't be happy apart from other things. But as Jesus said, one

1:41.2

s life does not consist in the abundance of things he possesses. So we're to be finding

1:48.0

our contentment elsewhere. All right. So let's talk about this deceitfulness of riches.

1:55.2

So it's not the riches themselves that enter in and choke out the word, but it's a deceitfulness

2:01.7

of the lies of riches. That's what chokes out the word deceitfulness means treacherous,

2:11.2

duplicitous, lying, or false. So remember, it was our mother, Eve, who was deceived.

2:19.3

She believed the lie that the serpent told her. And notice back in the parable, the word

2:25.2

is planted, but it sees other things as deceitfulness that enters in. So we really need
