It's Doug Scott Kramer everyone.

Doug was forced into the cult of Scientology at nine years old when his father decided it would be a good idea for the family.

He and his mother had little choice but to be involved. At first he resisted that eventually became a card-carrying member in his 20s with a fervent feel for the

cultish stuff around Scientology. He really got into the depths of it, into its grips. Today Doug talks to me about the way that

sciontology and other cults like it, manipulate people into signing up. From love bombing to

holding back information and the sunk cost

fallacy so you go in so far by the time you've heard all the mad stuff you're already

so deep into the cult that you sort of have to keep going. Doug discusses the cultish

mind control techniques and explains what differentiates a cult from a religion.

We also have a bit of a debate about atheism because Doug still believes in some spiritual stuff,

and I absolutely do not, but such as my debating style that it's not exactly a heated

argument by any means and as is typical of these kinds of debates neither of us

moved very far from our starting position I had a great time talking to him and will even be coming
