Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Mormon Stories podcast. I'm your host

Dr. John DeLand. It's December 17th, 2021. And today we have an epic Mormon Stories podcast

interview. It's one of those interviews where we interview a couple talking about their

Mormon stories, which includes their faith journey, which is always important and relevant

and validating for so many of the Mormons these days who are experiencing faith crises.

But what makes today's episode maybe particularly sobering or powerful or interesting is we

are going to be talking about, and this is sort of a trigger warning, we're going to be

talking about sexual abuse. In this case, it's the sexual abuse of a high level Mormon

church leader who's well respected, abusing his grandson. And in this case, we're doing

something that's also kind of very serious in that we're going to be naming names. That's

what Matt, the abuse victim has decided to do. So this is going to be a a heavy story. And

there's good reason to believe that the perpetrator, the abuser in this case, who is, who is

Matt's grandfather, Spencer Palmer, not only was a mission president and a temple president

and a personal friend of Gordon B. Hinkley, he also is very likely the recipient of the Mormon

church second and noining where he participated, he and his wife participated in a secret

top secret Mormon temple ritual, guaranteeing him and his wife a place in the celestial kingdom

as a perpetrator of sexual abuse of not just one, but of several people. And so it's a sobering

interview. And so we want you to manage your own mental health and well being in the
