Hi this is Steve from epics like Braveheart and the last the Mohicans to smaller

films like LaBamba and even Ken Burns' Civil War John and I have spent a lot of

time talking about historical events this year. If you listen to our Brave Heart episode,

you probably don't need reminding that accuracy was not a top priority in that film,

as opposed to Last of the Mohicans, where Michael Mann was determined to build

everything from forts and canons to

wardrobe with traditional methods and materials.

On a much smaller scale in the Bombay that meant involving the Valenzuela family in every aspect of the production to make sure they got the details of Ricky Valens's life right.

And in Apollo 13, which we are continuing our discussion of this week,

it meant an entire cast and crew pouring over the transcripts

of the actual mission to make things as accurate as possible without sacrificing on entertainment.

Believe or not, we try to do the same things on the cinnophiles, giving you an entertaining

conversation about great films along with a whole bunch of what we hope is accurate information.

Unfortunately, far too often we get things wrong and

that's why we're so lucky to have all of you cinnophiles out there to check our work.

For instance in Apollo 13 I repeatedly said that Jim level didn't say,

Houston, we have a problem on the actual mission.

Of course, what I didn't do was read the transcripts myself

before making that statement.

Fortunately, a few of Eucinphiles did and posted your correction on Facebook.

Jim Lovell actually did say, Houston, we have a problem.

I hate getting things wrong and corrections like that are very much appreciated.
