but not much can be done until one of those signs turns,

uproots itself, and comes charging after you down the street, red-faced, screaming stop,

bad signs. Eventually these kids stop showing them, usually because they've grown out of it,

but occasionally because they've grown into it, quietly becoming exactly what we all feared. A sleeper cell, dormant, napping until their

The Green Chain, or the Green Chain Walk, refers to a thick, winding belt of forest, peppered with pathways that run in and around

Plumstead Common. An excellent place to raise children, that is, until a rapist targeting lone

women pushing prams decides to make it his feeding grounds. A lot of places to hide along

the green chain, a lot of places to run. And it would take

five years of authority scratching their heads over the absurdity of nearly 100 unsolved attacks

before they could put a name and face to the predator who managed to do as he pleased,
