This week on the Jefferson Hour, Clay, we're going to talk about some very difficult

issues, and that's a risk, isn't it?

It is, and I will say this, that we love having our friend, Lindsay Chervinsky on.

She's a spirited, refreshing young historian with a whole life of great work ahead of her.

She's young, and I think when you're young, you're more likely to feel certitude about

certain things.

I don't know about you, David, but I'm so glad to have this opportunity to hear from

Lindsay, but I want to warn our listeners, in my case, and in Lindsay's case, that when

you talk about things of this complexity and things that get at the very heart of what

it is to be an American, there are no final answers.

Things are people too, and we're groping in the dark, much of the time, that we're all

fighting, we're struggling to make sense, to be clear, to be articulate, to be historical,

and I just want to warn our listeners that there may be things in this program that you

find that you disagree with or even are offended by, but know that these are three people
