Eight-year-old Yara comes to Sweden as a refugee without her parents.

She is placed in the care of her uncle and his wife, who had just recently fled to Sweden themselves.

But what was supposed to be a safe place for Yara to grow up in turns out to be the exact opposite.

The uncle's home is not suitable for children at all, and the uncle's wife turns out to be a child abuser of the worst kind.

Yara's last 14 months alive is a living nightmare, and everyone fails her the school the system and her own family

we are taught British English. And to make my English accent even more confusing,

I went to the US and spent a year in Iowa as an exchange student.

So my English today is a mix of tomatoes and tomatoes.
