Summary

The CEO of Gaza aid group Project Hope tells Newshour there is ‘no justification’ for the killing of civilians seeking medical care, after an Israeli strike killed 15 Palestinians, including ‘at least 8 children’, waiting outside its clinic in central Gaza. The IDF said it had been targeting a Hamas fighter who took part in the October 7th attack. Also on the programme: we speak to Brazilian President Lula De Silva's chief foreign policy advisor following Mr Lula's pledge to match 50% US tariffs; and the original Birkin handbag has been sold at auction for more than ten million dollars. uninvolved individuals and operates to minimise harm as much as possible. That's not the view of

the UN Children's Agency. It said in a statement of its own that it was appalled by what had

1:06.4

happened, adding that the killing of families trying to access life-saving aid was unconscionable.

1:12.5

The clinic is run by a UNICEF partner agency, a private NGO based in the US called Project Hope.

1:19.1

I've been speaking to its CEO, Rabi Torbe.

1:22.3

I mean, it was quite shocking at 7.15 this morning.

1:26.0

We had patients lined up in front of our clinic waiting to get

1:29.6

care. Most of them are women and children, and then a drone attacked in front of the clinic

1:36.5

and killed 15 people, including 10 children and two women. So we were devastated, we were shocked,

1:47.4

we're angry. This thing should not happen. It shouldn't happen anywhere. It shouldn't continue to happen in Gaza. Israel says it was

targeting a Hamas militant who took part in the October the 7th attacks. I mean, is there any
