Will you tell us a bit about your career?

So, I'm a partner and agent at Marsal Lion Literary Agency.

I've been in the publishing business for, what feels like a hundred years on some days.

I started out on the distribution and wholesaling side of the business and did that for about

17 or 18 years.

Which meant I basically worked for a company that bought lots of books for big customers

like back in the day, price club, and then it became Costco, Sam's, BJ's, those kinds

of accounts.

We did the borders, mass market program, when borders was around and kicking and that

kind of thing.

I ran the buying department, which meant I met with publishers and they called on us about

buying their books.

And we were one of the biggest buyers of books in the country.

So I really got to know a lot of people on the sales side of publishing.
