And I have one spooky story for you today.

And today's story comes from Hillary.

Before we begin this story, I would like to give a trigger warning for

religious trauma. I've recently been binging the pod and I wanted to share a few of my encounters.

Mine may not seem as dramatic as others that have been shared on the surface, but with the context

of my childhood religion, it might make them a bigger deal.

I'm 32 years old right now, and was born into Mormonism. For any Mormons listening to the

pod, I will continue to refer to the religion as Mormonism, rather than the Church of Jesus Christ

of Latter-day Saints. That's my experience and my right.

Some things you should know going into my stories are that in the Mormon religion there are

three heavens. The highest heaven, the celestial kingdom, is the one you want to go to because

that is where Sky Daddy and Bro Jesus live. You are supposed to be the most powerful and happy there.

The other incentives for making it there include literally turning into a god with your

heterosexual spouse, no gaze allowed, your skin will be white, your body will be perfect,

and you get to rule your own planets. If you are a woman, you will get to be one of an undefined

number of wives to your husband and you get to have spirit babies for the rest of eternity.

This is supposed to make you perfectly happy, even if you don't think it sounds like a blast right now.

The biggest incentive for making it to this kingdom is that it's the only place that you will get to be

with your family and loved ones. In the other kingdoms you are separated from them. You have to

accomplish a long list of specific things to get into the highest heaven. Pay tithing, which is 10%
