Hi this is Steve. If you wanted to scientifically determine the earliest signs of a burgeoning

cinephile, you could do a lot worse than looking for the obsessive rewatching of favorite films. Now maybe it was just that back in the 80s we

didn't have the unlimited access to movies we have today but there were a few films

that my friends and I watched over and over and over again.

We've already talked about a few of them on this podcast.

Movies like The Terminator, Jaws, Airplane, and of course Big Trouble in Little China seemed to find

their way back on my television all the time.

But the film I most associate with my good friend, Animator Stephen B Jones, was the movie that set the tone for post

apocalyptic futures, brought car chases and action sequences to a whole new level,

and fully established Mel Gibson as a true movie star.

That film of course is George Miller's groundbreaking 1981 classic Mad Max II, The Road Warrior.

And we couldn't possibly think of discussing it on the cinnophiles
