Each episode we dive into the minds of some of the worst criminals in history and the case we are

covering today is such a messed up case.

Because back in 2016, a man named Edwin Lara went on the run.

He had taken a woman hostage.

He had shot another man in the stomach, and he had literally just taken a grandma and her two grandsons hostage as well.

And he was driving down the road at high speed. He was holding

all of these people at gunpoint, and he pulled out a phone and started recording himself. He started

to confess to everything that he had done. He started to say that he was not a bad guy, that he

hadn't hurt, this woman that he had hostage. And he was recording this video so he could post it on Facebook.

And then also in this video that he recorded, he also confessed to hurting another woman.

And this case is just so devastating. Edwin was completely unhinged. He was losing control.

And it is terrifying how much more he could have done in his crime spree. And that is the case

we are covering today, so let's jump in. Edwin Lara was born in Honduras in 1985. An exact date

of birth is not known before emigrating to the US when he was seven years old.

And he grew up in Bend, Oregon, where the rest of today's case takes place.

And growing up, Edwin had a pretty normal childhood.

There's nothing really to note that was that significant.

He was described by his mom as a calm and respectful young boy. He was very

social. He had lots of friends. He never got himself into any kind of trouble. He wasn't aggressive

or angry in any kind of way. Edwin also never met his biological dad. Instead, he was raised by
