Summary

Hi, it’s Amy here, and today is one episode that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time now! In this episode, you’ll hear me share about my own health journey that I’ve been on for the past year and a half, and I reveal what has happened during this time, where I am today, and more.

Joining me is Sammie Gollup, who is an incredible dietician, to make sure that we have a safe and scientific conversation. With that being said, if hearing about weight gain or weight loss is triggering for you, please sit this episode out and take care of yourself first. In this conversation, we try to be very conscious of the way that we present these topics, but I want you to be aware of your own boundaries and needs, as always.

Today, we want to have a really honest talk about weight gain and how it can impact a person mentally, and then give you the tools that can help you work through this. This episode is meant to be educational through storytelling. In it, I tell my story and Sammie gives some of the science behind it and background from her experience working with many patients. It’s going to be really interesting and informative, and we hope you get lots from it!

We would love it if you shared this episode to get these important messages heard by more women and mothers. When you do, please tag us on Instagram, @anti.diet.mama and @herselfpodcast with your biggest takeaways from this episode!

There's so many things that we learn from a really young age that tell us stop

0:05.6

listening to what your body's telling you and don't trust it. And we need to get

0:09.1

back to a place where we're respecting our body in that we're actually listening

0:13.2

to what they're telling us.

I'm Amy and I'm Abby and as women we are constantly comparing ourselves to

0:24.1

others but your life isn't supposed to look like hers. Being your best self

0:29.5

means standing firm in your decisions and always being willing to grow with

a purpose. We get vulnerable and real with an honest look into the challenges

0:38.2

and triumphs we all face. Every woman listening gets the opportunity to choose

0:43.0

what life looks like for herself.

I'm excited for today's episode because it's been one that I've been wanting to

0:54.2

do for a long time. Today we're going to talk about my health journey that I've

0:59.0

been on for the past year and a half. When I was postpartum after my third

1:04.3

son, Cole, I started to experience this overwhelming fatigue. It's not normally

1:10.7

the way that my body feels at all and it wasn't due to a lack of sleep. I was

1:16.3

definitely getting enough sleep. I think the things that I went through are

1:21.1

very common for women. I've talked to a lot of other friends that have

1:25.3

experienced some of the stuff that I'm going to be talking about. So I wanted to

1:30.4

open up about it today and talk about what it looked like. I'm going to talk

1:35.6

about what happened where I am today and more. But there are a few housekeeping

1:41.1

items before we get started. Number one, today I have my friend Sammy Gallup
