Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of Mormon Stories podcast.

I am your host John DeLin.

It is March 24th, 2021 and we have a short Mormon Stories podcast episode.

And when I say short, I mean an hour to an hour and a half at the most might be shorter,

but we have something important and interesting to talk about.

Recently a news story started splashing across all the Utah newspapers and when I say all

the Utah newspapers, I mean two Utah newspapers, the Deseret news and the Salt Lake Tribune.

We'll go with the Salt Lake Tribune first.

Fair Mormon adopts a new name and urges a kinder approach in defending the LDS church.

And of course in the Deseret news, the headline is Fair Mormon drops Mormon from name and

bickering from posts.

And those of you who have been following Mormon Stories podcast over the past six to eight

months will be very familiar with the backstory, which is really interesting and I'll just recount

it really quickly.

At some point a few years ago, Quaco L, a convert to the Mormon church and actor and a BYU

student and a hired apologist, along with Carden Ellis, also kind of a hired gun, wannabe

actor, podcast or producer, and then a guy named Bradley Whitbeck.

At some point a year or two ago, they approached Fair Mormon, the Mormon apologetic group and

said, Hey, your videos stink.

We think you need to create a new set of videos that are hip, that are cool, that are funny,

that are even sarcastic, that are edgy, and that are kind of like Saturday Night Live,

where there's young hip people sitting at a desk reporting on news, telling jokes, but
