Well, Heather, thank you so much for telling us your story so far.

I think this really helps members of the Church get an understanding of the conversion process

and some of the social and cultural issues and concerns that someone who joins faces

and maybe how hard it can be to learn things after the fact that sometimes things are pretty significant.

I don't think there are any easy answers for all this, but I think it's important for us to have sensitivity to it.

So here's where your story gets sort of shocking for many people.

So why don't you take us from, tell us a little bit about your early marriage and the big shock that came.

Well, after we got married, we both had about a year and a half left of college.

So we returned to Utah to go to BYU.

And within probably less than six months, for sure, of us going back to school.

My husband started not wanting to go to the temple, not being really excited about church, just being a little bit depressed in general.

And I pressed him about it and we talked about it.

And he told me that he didn't believe anymore.

Now, what year was this?

Just in my own life, I like to think about things.

2002.
