Day two of opening statements today,

and we were introduced to new participants.

One by one, companies with a role in Grenfell

made themselves known through these written opening statements.

And with each submission, a clearer picture began to slowly emerge, a bit like a TV crime drama where detectives pin photos of people of interest on a board and draw lines to connect them.

So what do these companies and organisations say about their

responsibilities at Grenfell? Let's start with Arconic architectural products. This company

manufactured the rain screen cladding. In its statement, the company said it supplied a product to

purchasers. It was for others to decide whether and how the product would be used

and to ensure the specification, design, fabrication and installation of the product

complied with any applicable regulatory regime.

The company which carried out the refurbishment works at Grenfell is called Ryden.

It said it anticipated its involvement in Phase one, this part of the inquiry, was likely to be limited. The Royal

Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in its submission said it's well understood in the construction

industry that the fact that local authorities have a building control function does not remove

the duties on those

paid to design buildings. Kensington and Chelsea tenant management organisation, T.M.O.

was responsible for managing and maintaining the tower. In its statement, it said,
