For example, I could kiss you just because I want you. What's different if you turn away? I'm going to die one day.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen, you're going to die one day. And so am I. And so is my guest this afternoon.

Actually, maybe he's not because my guest is a bit of a fictional character. He's set half human, half fictional.

Guy New York, welcome to a tangentially speaking. This is the first episode where I know what the podcast is called.

So it's my first one or actually say thank you to tangentially speaking. The previous ones I've said thank you to the not yet named podcast.

How many have you done? Probably about a dozen. Yeah, so well into it. As with everything, I sort of, you know, I'm up to my neck before I figure out where I am.

So here we are. So listen, we're in New York. If you hear traffic outside, that's New York Manhattan traffic.

Jack Hammer, glamorous New York. Yeah, exactly. Talk about Wall Street. Yeah, screaming masses, exactly the words.

Okay, so Guy New York. Yes, who the hell is Guy New York? It's a good question. Yeah. How did you become Guy New York?

You know, I started writing a blog a couple years ago on Tumblr actually. Partially for work. I wanted to figure out how Tumblr worked and what it was like as a blogging platform.

And so I started writing these really short little fictional, quasi fictional pieces about sex and my sex life and people I knew and it was sort of an experiment trying to figure out how many I could write.

I sat down one afternoon. They're all under 500 words. So the point was, all right, how many can I write in a short period of time?

So I wrote about five or 10. I was like, okay, apparently that it doesn't stop. So when I started a blog, I was like, all right, I need a name.

So I called the blog Quickies in New York because I was writing short things. I knew that I would never blog if it was going to take me hours to write a blog post.

It's not how my mind works. So it's got to come easily. Yeah, they had to be quick.

So the Quickies is not the description. The events themselves aren't necessarily Quickies. It's the description is right.

It started out with a little bit of both. A lot of them were like sex in a bar or sex in the bathroom or sex in a park. They were sort of in and out.

All right. But I mean, the name, you know, I kind of stole a little bit from Garrison Keeler's sort of guide and wire character.

Like I started out thinking it was going to be kind of over the top dramatic and crass and the sort of, I'm in a bar and it smells like whiskey and piss and sex.

Yeah, I was trying to be this couch. Yeah. I was falling while he had sex. And I just realized I couldn't keep it up. It was too.

So to speak. Yeah, so to speak. Exactly.
