Do you have the sense that some of his motivation was a love for all people and social justice

and equality?

Yes, I believe that was a major factor.

He had that insight in.

Because my listening, viewing audience is diverse, faith wise.

I have listeners who are very faithful and traditional, moderate, and some that are skeptical.

Those who are skeptical, they would probably be paying a picture like this.

Maybe the revelation would have happened in the 60s, but for any significant change to happen,

there needs to be total unanimity between the first presidency and the quorum of the 12.

There were clearly apostles who were opposed.

And so they couldn't achieve unanimity back then.

And when the combination of the civil rights movement flaring and the protests against BYU,

and the black wristbands, and the sort of the PR nightmare that it might have been,

there's rumblings of like the Church's tax exempt status being threatened.

And just this sense that once the right apostles die off, then it's easier to build this consensus

that then you could achieve unanimity, sort of a very cynical naturalistic explanation.

How would you...

I'd say I see no inconsistency.

I mean, that's what I think all those things are true.
