Ten years ago I interviewed WordPerfect co-founder and philanthropist Bruce Bastian, wherein we discussed his life growing up as gay Mormon boy in Idaho, his years at WordPerfect, his journey "coming out" as a gay Mormon father in the 1990s, and his early efforts to support LGBTQ rights.

Since this first interview, Bruce became even more active in fighting for LGBTQ equality in the United States, continuing his involvement with the Human Rights Campaign and supporting LGBTQ equality in Utah - all of which meaningfully contributed to the legalization of same-sex marriage in the United States in 2015.

Recently I sat down again with Bruce to record a history of these past 10 years from his perspective. I hope you enjoy!

0:33.6	But for those who don't know Bruce Bastion is a well-known philanthropist.
0:38.6	He's the founder of Word Perfect which was a super important software company in Utah
0:42.3	and in the world back in the day, back in my day.
0:46.8	And Bruce has been a really important force in LGBT rights in Utah in the United States.
0:56.9	And so much has happened in the past 10 years.
0:59.8	Things have happened in Utah.
1:02.5	For LGBT rights things have happened in the United States in terms of the legalization
1:07.1	of same-sex marriage.
1:08.7	Things have happened in the Mormon Church.
1:10.4	And most importantly things have happened in Bruce's life.
1:14.9	And so we're going to be covering all that today.
1:19.2	Seeing things that have led to Bruce having, by his report, his led to his happiest life
1:28.3	or state ever.
1:29.9	And who doesn't want to hear about that?
