manufacturing descent since 1996 this is hell if you want to feed people and not have

them suffer from hunger then you probably should embrace

neoliberal capitalism because the system we currently have here in the United States

and the system that the US tries to impose around the world.

It doesn't work when it comes to giving human beings access to the stuff we eat in order to, you know, live.

Putting profits before people when it comes to food means some people will

starve especially in developing economies that have grown dependent on food

imports to feed the people. What is needed isn't simply more food being sent in from the outside world, but food sovereignty.

As today's guest describes, food sovereignty is a system that unlike capitalism

ensures people have continual access to plentiful healthy and affordable food

locally produced. In other words it's not only the opposite of the industrial food chain

that we currently have here in the United States. It's also incompatible with the way in which we grow,

produce, and distribute food here in the States.
