There's been a massive moral panic about the behaviour of football fans and in particular around racism. I mean Tom do you want to

the right side lost in the euros and then the right side seems to be losing in the

culture war as well I guess I mean it just became

instantly after that a lot of discussion about togetherness and the country and the

country being brought together by the England team successes it all just

completely disintegrated off the back of, in large part, as you say, this moral panic about racism in football.

And I think it's important when we talk about this, so we get straight what we mean when we're talking about this.

So the racist abuse suffered by in particular

Sancho Sacro and Rashford in the wake of that penalty shootout is obviously

completely abhorrent any good person would condemn it. The thing about moral panics is you have a small problem of horrendous things happening,

of bad things happening, of people doing bad things, but it just gets blown out of all proportion, and it gets blown out of all proportion to often authoritarian ends talks
